Art Therapy

Sarah Taylor - Registered Art Therapist

HPC (Health Professions Council)
BAAT (British Association of Art Therapist).

What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is a very versatile and flexible therapeutic approach. It doesn’t require any artistic ability and it can benefit anyone who chooses to utilise it.

Creativity is a powerful tool to assist self awareness and the development of a persons psyche.

How can it help me?

This type of therapy can be used to help clients to develop an understanding of any issues they are facing, and through using creativity they can initialise a change in their lives.

The overall aim of its practitioners is to enable a client to effect change and growth on a personal level through the use of art materials in a safe and productive environment.

How is it different from other therapies?

Art therapy differs from other psychological therapies in that it is a three-way process between the client, the therapist and the image or artefact. Thus it offers the opportunity for expression and communication and can be particularly helpful to people who find it hard to express their thoughts and feelings verbally.
